Announcements

Having difficulty navigating our new group class structure? Not sure where your experience fits in? For your benefit, and also for that of your peers, we welcome you to sign up for a stress-free evaluation with Joy or Todd. Call 612-353-4445 (or sign up when you come in to class) to make a 15-minute appointment.

The cost is $10 which can be applied to your next series of classes. (If you were attending Intermediate or Advanced classes in 2011, you are eligible for a free evaluation.)

SDS Flash Mob – This Sunday at Xcel Energy Center

Social Dance Studio is “swarming” the field with a West Coast Swing and Salsa Shine Flash Mob during Sunday’s Minnesota Swarm LaCrosse Game (vs. Rochester Nighthawks)!

The game is Sunday, Feb 12^th, 2pm at the Xcel Energy Center in downtown St. Paul. We will be performing in the middle of the game!

Come support SDS and your fellow dancers, while watching a professional LaCrosse game! Tickets are only $20. A portion of ticket sales will go towards kids’ scholarships for the SDS Summer Salsa Youth Academy program!

We are thrilled for our new line up of classes with new syllabi that is exploding with patterns, styling, and technique for everyone. Our teachers have passion and energy and are ready to invest in you in becoming fabulous social dancers!

• LA Salsa on Tuesdays and Wednesdays! Plus all new ADVANCED Salsa with Byron Johnson on Tuesdays and ADVANCED Salsa with Niko Salgado on Wednesdays!

Social Dance Studio will be at FACES mears park in St. Paul every 2^nd and 4^th Friday for a Latin mini lesson after the first band break, around 9:15pm. Come check out the band and dance with your favourite Social Dance Studio instructors! Mark your calendars and join us!

Rueda with Joseph Tsehai is back! Saturdays at the Studio from 4-6pm! Only $5 at the door! NOTE: There will NOT be class on February 18th. We will all be in San Francisco at the Rueda Festival and will be learning great things we will bring back to Minnesota!

Rene Thompson’s Cuban Movement Class is coming to SDS on Saturdays at 2pm in March. Pre-registration is required. $40 for a 4-week series. Please call 612-353-4445 to reserve a spot!

Due to busy schedules, Akasha’s bellydance classes on Sundays will be canceled unless students pre-pay for the class/session. Please paypal $60 for a session to akasha@akashawear.com. Drop-ins are $12. For more information call 612-817-9941.

Social Dance Studio offers complimentary Dance Shoe Fittings

Dance shoe fittings are available every 4^th Saturday of the month from 10am to Noon. No appointment is necessary, but suggested. Please email shoes@socialdancestudio.com for more information, or to schedule an appointment with Julianne!

Joy and Todd have made Dirty Dancing one of the most popular workshop series that has been offered at Social Dance Studio. This time, they are mixing it up with hot salsa moves! The workshop does require a partner, but no experience is necessary. Be sure to find a partner that you are comfortable dancing close to … REALLY close.

~ First Class Free for All New Students!

~ We ask that all new students join foundation classes during the first two weeks of each month. Foundation classes are closed to all new students during the last two weeks of each month. (Please consult the class instructor(s) for special permission to join during the last two weeks of the month)

~ For your safety and the safety of your fellow students, please keep wet shoes/footwear off the hard wood floors and out of the ballrooms. Wet footwear can damage our beautiful wood floors and potentially ruin your suede-soled dance shoes or a fellow students suede-soled dance shoes, please be kind and walk on the carpeted areas and pathways.

~ Prerequisites are listed on the website and available at the registration desk. If you aren’t sure what level you should be in, please call ahead and schedule an appointment for a Free Professional Assessment (or arrive early and ask for a teacher).

~ Classes start on time. We thank you for being considerate of your teacher and fellow classmates. If you are more than 15 minutes late you are welcome to watch the class so you may participate in the next class of the series.

~ Student Semester Pass: All full-time high school or college students must show ID's in order to receive the student monthly rate. The student pass is good for 30 days from date of purchase. The Pass will not be extended due to holidays or canceled classes. Please contact the SDS desk for additional details and current pricing. SDS reserves the right to request a copy of your CURRENT class schedule as proof of enrollment at any time; requests will be made by SDS Staff/Administration verbally and will need to be provided before the next class taken at the studio. If one cannot provide proof of current enrollment, regular non-student prices will be charged.

Joy and Todd will be teaching the choreography on Sunday, February 5th, 1-4:00pm at Social Dance Studio. If you already know this choreography, please come to this rehearsal and help us teach others!!

We are adding a SALSA SHINE segment to the Flash Mob choreography so that all of our salsa friends can get involved too!! Come on February 5th from 3-4:00pm if you are only interested in the Salsa Shine choreography. We will teach this segment in the Solar Studio.
