East Coast Swing

East Coast Swing is a fun, energetic dance danced to big band music such as Brian Setzer Orchestra and the Cherry-Poppin' Daddys.  It is commonly found at wedding dances, cruises, and high school dances!

East Coast Swing Foundations, Part 1

The basic syllabus for Foundations part 1 includes

  • Open position basic Step
  • Outside/Inside turn for leader/follower
  • Left turn
  • Belly Rub
  • Behind the back hand change
  • Alternating under-arm turns
  • Cuddle
  • Hammerlock
  • Pretzel

 

 

East Coast Swing Foundations, Part 2

 

  • Pretzel
  • Tuck Turns
  • Double arm slide
  • Single arm slide
  • Closed position basic (will include j-hook and left throw out)
  • Rotating closed position basic
  • Pinwheel w/ free spin
  • Back-walks in closed position (taps and kicks)
  • Closed position tuck turn
